Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Inner Resilience Training for People in the Caring Professions
Are your work demands negatively impacting your well-being, quality of life, health, sleep? Do you find it hard to say no? Are your energy levels depleted due to the care you give to others? Do you give to the point of burn out?
If the answer is yes then this program may well be just what you need to start turning things around to great ease and balance for work and for life in general.
Have you ever wondered if there was a skill you could use to help you sustain compassionate care in the face of competing demands and the ongoing empathic resonance with the people in your care?
Burgeoning research is showing that self-compassion skills can be of particular benefit to those working in the caring professions, allowing them to experience greater satisfaction in their caring roles, increased well-being and emotional resilience. The good news is that self-compassion skills are trainable.
This workshop is tailored toward the use of mindfulness and self-compassion practices in the caring setting.
This brief training aims to improve wellbeing and emotional resilience by teaching skills to use with distressing emotional situations as they occur.
Learning aims:
As opposed to other self-care techniques, mindfulness and self-compassion practices can be used on the spot while at work with patients / clients and colleagues, like learning to breathe under water. Participating in this workshop you will learn tools to utilize throughout the workday and your everyday life to:
• Care for you while caring for others.
• Handle difficult emotions with greater ease.
• Be able to listen receptively with compassion to self and others.
• Reconnect to the values that give your life and work meaning.
Format:
The focus is on the core informal MSC skills. These skills, although requiring an intentional daily effort to integrate do not require extra time or formal meditation practice. The design of this workshop in itself is a compassionate response to address the fact that people working in the caring professions are often time poor and exhausted in the work they do to care for others.
